Old Favorites (OF)™

Dig these (or only one of them) which I will not suggestively “connect” to anything all that mysterious — you can see if they happen to “land on” anything happening to you at this time. It would be no suprise either way, but we could see if it might mean something nobody else would’ve ever thought of seeking. It can always be that I sought one and found a twin, like.

That sort of vague idea, or ideas… but the first part (the poem, the purely lyric part) is like my father’s middle name, anagrammed and the second is my mom (now deceased) who once taught the young ones to help find their own lessons by listening to the popular songs and then learning them for themselves. This was one that they and she were all proud to have done, at programs for the parents, and whatnot, in the days of young proud happiness I can still remember as if they had actually happened and not been lost forever. Wildfire!

(lyrics please, I had them somewhere once before)

Wildfire

(Michael Martin Murphey)

She comes down from Yellow Mountain
On a dark, flat land she rides
On a pony she named Wildfire
A whirlwind by her side
On a cold Nebraska night.

They say she died one winter
When there came a killing frost,
And the pony she named Wildfire
Busted down his stall —
In a blizzard he was lost.

She ran calling Wildfire,
Calling Wildfire…
Calling… WILDFIRE!!

So by the dark of the moon I planted,
But there came an early snow.
There’s been a hoot owl howlin’ outside my window now,
Six nights in a row.
She’s comin’ for me, I know
And on Wildfire…
We’re both gonna go!

We’ll be ridin’ Wildfire,
Ridin’ Wildfire,
We’ll be ridin’ Wildfire…
On Wildfire we’re gonna ride,
Gonna leave sodbustin’ behind, and
Get the hard times right on out of our minds,
Ridin’ WILDFIRE!!!

Yeah so maybe doing live performances is really not what I would want to try again, I am almost positively certain! But I can “envision” making some kind of “demo tape” using nothing but cyberspace. Not enough cybertime to do it, probably.
